Update- Now home and videos updated

Hi Everyone

I am now back home in New Zealand being pampered by Mum.

I have completed all the videos from the trail – up to Day 171 which was my final day. These videos can be viewed on YouTube. I have just realised I never explained this so some of you have not seen them yet. You now have some marathon viewing sessions to look forward to.

Instructions: go to www.youtube.com. search for Restless Kiwi. Click on the Playlist tab and then PCT Thru Hike 2019 and this will bring up all the videos in order.

I am working on some more videos including; Day in the Life of a Thru Hiker, Gear Reviews, PCT Summary, Female Hygiene, etc. I will also do a live Question and Answer session.

Then I will work on finishing the blogs

  1. I found you when you were starting the Sierras and watched all of your adventures on the PCT. For me, your expertise at hiking was very evident. I really enjoyed your perspective. Your panoramas were extraordinary, your commentary was interesting. Thank you for all of your efforts with your videos. With respect from Canada

  2. Well done on completing the trail. I really enjoyed your vlog series.
Will you be returning to the Norge på langs ?

    1. Thanks John. Yes I will return to Norway to finish the trail. It is an itch I have to scratch as I hate leaving things unfinished. Just need to work out the when.

    1. I took a couple. I will do a video covering my journey home which includes a couple of days as a tourist though I didn’t take a lot of footage

  3. I have watched your PCT trip from beginning to end. What an inspiration. I have found it very useful as well. A year ago I decided that when I retire in 2023, I would like to attempt it. I have been a hiker all my life, spent a lot of time in my youth hiking in the Colorado Rockies, including summiting 40 of the 54 “14ers”. The back- packing trips I did when I was younger were more geared towards getting closer to the base of these mountains for a better chance at summiting the next day. I have never done a long-distance through-hike though, and have been ravenously researching gear, tips, and other info about the PCT. I will be 61.5 years when I attempt it, and I have no illusions that my age poses certain difficulties, and I am resigned that finishing it is probably unlikely, but attempting it to “go as far as I can” is my goal. I will continue to watch your upcoming videos about gear etc and will be taking copious notes. I feel certain I will have more than a few questions! In the meantime, I continue to do long distance walks combined with cardio training at the gym to maintain my base level of fitness. In the next 1-2 years, I will start doing longer trips of 1-2 weeks to evaluate comfort of gear etc. Fingers crossed! Thanks so much for all the hard work you have put into documenting your trip!!

Happy to hear you have made it back home. I have to say day 169 with the thunder and lightening scared me even through a video screen! Yikes!!! 😳 I love crazy weather but to be that exposed and THAT close would have been a whole different situation. Looking forward to the aftermath videos. Get some much needed rest and eat, eat, eat!! Thanks again for sharing your journey with us all, it was by far AMAZING!

    Best Regards,

    Megan V
