Getting a Visa

I estimated it would take me around 4 months to walk the trail and the standard tourist visa was only 3 month so I started making enquiries about getting a longer visa. It was pretty confusing and I was being directed all over the place. There is no Norway Embassy in New Zealand and New Zealanders are advised to go to the Netherlands Embassy, however they only made the stamp in the passport and you had to apply elsewhere. I emailed them explaining I was aware of the 90 day tourist visa but asking how to get longer. I got an email back regurgitating the same information back at me. I then tried through the Norway immigration website but never got a response, I then tried through a visa agency and they said to contact the Consulate in Auckland, who said no them I had to contact the Norway Embassy in Canbera, Australia. My first email to them once again repeated back what I said and gave no new information. I tried the Norway Immigration and once again no response. Finally I tracked down a different section in the Canberra Embassy and finally got a definitive answer – no tourist visa over 90 days and no alternate available unless I wanted to work, be a student or be an au Pair. So after a lot of work the most time I can get in Norway is 90 days.
